Metalwork and CNC subcontracting: the USA is looking for European workshops

US industry has depended on Asian subcontracting for years and is now looking for balance. European workshops are among the winners of that search.

What has changed

Reorganizing supply chains is no longer conference talk; it is visible in the data: flows of European metal products and components to the USA have grown steadily. Buyers speak openly about diversification, and the Eastern European price level together with the EU quality image fits that picture exactly.

Estonian welded structures, CNC parts and aluminium work already move into US supply chains today via Scandinavia. Direct contact with the US buyer removes one layer of margin from the middle.

What the US client values

Three things recur: accurate execution to drawings without lengthy explanation, an English-speaking engineer who answers a technical question the same day, and stable quality without batch-to-batch variation. Price is fourth, and this is said outright.

Of certificates, ISO 9001 is asked about most, and for welding the relevant standards. If these are in place, the door is open.

The next step

In the metal category, among the importers we see equipment manufacturers, buyers of building structures and industrial wholesalers. If your workshop has spare capacity, in two weeks we will map for you the buyers whose current supply geography matches your profile.
